International School Program

Joseph and the Technicolour Dream CoatRegent Christian Academy has been offering specialized English as a Second Language (E.S.L.) Program since 1989 for students in grade 7 and above. This is a full-time program that operates parallel with the main Canadian school as to dates, times, holidays, and semesters. Students take a full range of E.S.L. subjects including art, music, computer, and P.E. preparatory to enrollment into a regular school program. There is also an opportunity to participate in extra-curricular activities such as soccer, basketball, and drama productions.

Upon arrival, all grade 7 - 12 international students are tested to determine their ability to function in the English language. Students take a Secondary Level English Proficiency (SLEP) test, a spelling test, and a written assignment. The result of these tests will determine which level of the international program they will be placed in (beginner, intermediate, or advanced). Students are tested periodically during the year and moved along in the levels according to their progress.

Canadian School: Kindergarten to Grade 6

music programRegent accepts students directly into Kindergarten to Grade 6 (5 - 11 years old). It is our experience that at these grade levels students learn English quickly by being immersed into an English classroom environment.

After the initial adjustment, they progress well and are often in the top 1/3 of their class by the end of the school year.

Canadian School: Grades 7 to 12

skiing programE.S.L. students who are ready to be admitted into Grade 7 - 12 classes are fully immersed into the regular school system. In most cases, it is beneficial for them to have a tutor to assist them in their studies. International students entering Grade 7 - 12 are required to sign an academic performance contract. Most international students are not required to take French classes and are enrolled in a special writing skills class instead.
